Christmas Shopping and the U.S. Tax System

During the Holiday season, businesses get the majority of their profit from consumers doing the bulk of their shopping during this season.  This past christmas was exciting for a lot of businesses since customers are buying at a more feverish pace and deciding to splurge a little more than past years due to the down economy. In fact, retail revenue is up five and one half percent this last weekend compared to drop of six percent in all of  last year. This means the more the people are buying for the christmas season, the more tax income is being brought in to our country.  This strengthens the point i made in my past post saying how the U.S. had more of a consumption economy.
