Currently, throughout the whole time I have been in this Global Citizenship class, I have been investigating the significance and facts regarding poverty. Poverty affects millions of people all around the world. One of the most shocking facts I found while researching this topic would be how the International Poverty Line is a dollar and twenty-five cents a year. The average family of four, (in America) makes 75,000 dollars a year. Can you even imagine trying to live off of barely more than a dollar a year? Personally, that’s not even imaginable.
Another fact is that millions of families all over the world live off less than $250 a year. Families have to make $250 last a whole year. That much money to purchase food, water, and all the things that are necessary towards life. Some people in America don’t realize how much better they have it than other families all over the world. We all should be very thankful for all the things we have been blessed with and not take everything we have for granted.
There are plenty more statistics that I would be able to show you, but the morale of the story is to be grateful for what you have. Plenty of people all over the world would switch places with you any day of the week.
